Olympic skeet hold points and leads, station by station

Last updated:

Olympic skeet uses the same field as American skeet, but the gun starts at the hip, the target can come any time within three seconds of your call, and the targets fly faster and farther. Every hold point moves out and every lead grows.

  • These are starting points, not rules, and Olympic skeet technique is coached closely: treat them as a first guess to refine with a coach.
  • Leads are perceived leads, for a maintained-lead shooter, and are approximate: most shooters see roughly a third more lead than on the same American skeet target.
  • Gun down means the butt starts on the hip, so the gun is held farther out from the house than in American skeet, with your eyes back toward the house to pick the target up.
  • The ISSF round adds doubles to more stations than American skeet. This page covers the singles; check the current ISSF rules for the full sequence.
